The Difference Between PVC and uPVC
Many people assume PVC and uPVC are the same, but there
are key differences:
- PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride): A
soft and flexible type of plastic, commonly used in products such as pipes,
flooring, and toys. Flexibility is achieved by adding plasticizers to the
compound.
- uPVC (Unplasticized PVC): Rigid
PVC without plasticizers. This
makes it strong, durable, and resistant,
making it ideal for windows, doors, and other
building profiles.
PVC is not suitable for window manufacturing because it is flexible, deforms
under heat or cold, cracks easily, and lacks long-term durability. Although it
may be cheaper, PVC is not recommended for windows and
doors under any circumstances.
On the other hand, uPVC is the industry standard for modern windows – offering strength, weather resistance, insulation, and
long-lasting performance.
